DNB, the leading bank in Norway, hired us to refresh their range of credit cards to be more aligned with the bank's new and updated design expression. The result is a new concept called Spectre.
Every week more than 2.3 million Norwegians use their DNB credit card in one way or another. Thus, their credit cards are all valuable physical, living proofs of the brand identity and the bank's brand values. And since banks very seldom have products you can actually touch and feel, the importance of making their card shine goes without saying.
We started the process by mapping all the scenarios you need a credit card - from your very first card to your Student card, till you reach the magic black card (if you're lucky!). The big idea is based on the simple insight that DNB offers a credit card for all the phases in your life - a true spectre of opportunities from you´re a kid till your old. We found the perfect comparison to this journey in something as easy as the Colour Spectre.
THE COLOUR SPECTRE WAS THE PERFECT COMPARISSON.
All the cards comes in clear colours of the Spectre and are pure minimalism at its best. Without any constructed, desperately needs to overdo things - or with the use of any traditional symbols of generic Norwegian landscape. (Boring!)
The first card we produced was the DNB White Card. A noticeably different credit card aimed for the Student segment that disrupts traditional credit card design. A clean and well behaved designed credit card, The White Card reflects the Scandinavian Simplicity as a corner stone of the bank's new and upgraded design expression. Where all details lies in the simplicity - a physical proof that less is more.
As you can see of the film in the spotlight, we have barely started on the makeover. The rest of the cards will be produced during 2015.
